STAFF COMMENTS

These comments are taken directly from a Staff Survey, which was completed in May 2008.

•  We are indeed fortunate to have someone of Mary Alice's caliber to set up the new library in Bayside. She is inspirational. Her kindness and intelligence are refreshing. She knows her job better than any librarian I have ever met. She has awesome technology skills. She knows how to communicate effectively with young people.

•  Strengths: approachable, kind, collaborative, kid-centered, creative. Mary Alice is a first-rate librarian who has done a fantastic job. She is informed, proactive, and always ready to get involved.

•  Mary Alice has done a superb job of setting up the Bayside library. It is an exciting environment with changing themes & displays. I have personally hugely appreciated the individual help & enthusiasm for reading / learning that Mary Alice displays. All questions / requests are immediately attended to.

•  Mary Alice loves reading and inspires both students and teachers to read. Her recommendations have been spot on and her support is invaluable.

•  Mary Alice is always approachable and willing to help. If I need a resource she immediately responds. She is always willing to collaborate and share her wealth of knowledge and resources with me. I have found her really helpful to team teach with.

•  She keeps updating the book selections (there's always new books) and she creates fun activities for the students. Mary Alice is extremely knowledgeable and a vital resource at Bayside. She can quickly find information to help with your classroom activities. She consistently seeks opportunities to support the classroom and get more students involved in the library itself. She has brought several programs to the school that demonstrate her creativity and competence (Book Bowl for example).

•  She is always ready to help and suggest things that will help students. She is flexible. She works hard to make cool things happen that promote reading in our school. She knows many students by showing herself available and by engaging in friendly conversations. She uses positive energy and hard work to make the library a better place to learn. She is gold! She put together the Book Bowl that fired up many young readers and positively encouraged reading.

•  Mary Alice has been enthusiastic to involve all areas of the school in library events. Her ideas are innovative, enjoyable, and challenging for their participants.
